Do you ever find yourself really craving Chik-fil-A only to realize it’s Sunday? Because SAME! I kid you not, 9/10 times I want Chik-fil-A…. it’s the ONE day they are closed each week.
Today we are here to change that for ourselves and for you….. we made Copy Cat sandwiches that are pretty darn close to the real thing. We played around with these ingredients until we got the perfect taste and process to be able to share with you all. We did regular deluxe and spicy deluxe!
Here’s what you need (makes 4):
- 2 chicken breasts
- 1/2 cup butter milk
- 1/2 cup pickle juice
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 2 eggs
- 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar
- 1 cup flour
- Cayenne (if making spicy version)
- Sliced tomato
- Cheese (optional)
- Hamburger pickles
- Chik fil a sauce (bought or homemade)
- Hamburger Buns
- 1 cup peanut oil
Here’s what to do:
Clean and trim the excess fat from two chicken breasts.
Place each chicken breast on a cutting board and slice the chicken in half horizontally. You will now have 4 pieces of chicken.
In a large bowl, mix the chicken, 1/2 cup pickle juice and 1/2 cup buttermilk and let marinate for 30-45 min in the fridge.
Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat.
In a medium size bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup whole milk and two eggs, set aside.
In another large bowl, whisk together flour, powdered sugar (if making the spicy version add cayenne here to your liking).
Working on one piece of chicken at a time, add chicken to milk/egg mixture and coat well. Then dip the same piece of chicken in the flour/sugar mixture. Repeat this once more with the same piece of chicken to “double batter”.
Cook chicken on each side for at least 4 minutes (or until fully cooked).
Assemble the sandwich to your liking. From the bottom up, we did: bun, sauce, lettuce, tomato, cheese, pickles, sauce and top with the other half of the burger bun.

That’s it! Would LOVE to hear your thoughts on these and when you try it out, tag us so we can re-share!
